Adopt-A-Snowflake sponsorships cost $250.00 and run for a three-year term. When you sponsor a snowflake adoption you will also receive a triangular banner opposite the snowflake on the same lamppost. The triangular banner is under the Burnsville banner on the post and contains the printed name of the donor. While snowflakes go up and down with the season, the banner stays up all year.
Notes: New sponsors can choose from available open lamppost locations in the Heart-of-the-City district. Current sponsors have first right of renewal to retain a current lamppost location.
Each holiday season, hundreds of thousands of LED lights adorn the boulevard trees along Burnsville Parkway, Nicollet Avene and Travelers Trail in Burnsville's Heart-of-the-City district. Over 300 businesses and individuals contribute to the annual event to make it possible.
On Thanksgiving eve, hundreds of Bursnville families gather together in Nicollet Commons Park for music, free cookies and hot chocolate, a chance to see Santa and Mrs. Clause, and to watch the flipping of the "big switch" that illuminates the city lights for the winter season.
Sponsor names are prominently displayed on the back of the invitation to and at the event and on a billboard sign on Burnsville Parkway across from JC's Sports Bar. They are also run as a screen crawler on Burnsville Community Television (BCT) Channel 16.
